We Bid Farewell and Much Thanks to Long Time Board Member, John Huey!
RECU would like to take a moment to thank John Huey for all of his contributions to the RECU Board over the years. He is retiring and moving on to a life of recreation and relaxation.
John states, "I joined Rich's in 1968 in
H.R. and was asked by Norman Smith to
be a member of the Credit Committee
about 1969-70. In 1976, after moving to
the Rich's Stores in Operations (ASM) I
represented Cobb, Perimeter, and Cumberland when all Stores
had Board members. Later, I remained a Board Member while
Downtown, at Gwinnett, Cobb, Town Center, and Perimeter
Furniture Showroom. I served on a couple of committees, as
Treasurer, and Credit Committee Chairman. Over the years both
Dianne & I have actively used the Credit Union to finance several
cars, our first house, the construction of our second home, and
the original mortgage on it. It was a fun ride and learning
experience. Best to you all!"
On behalf of the Credit Union and the board, we would
all like to thank John for his many volunteer hours and the
commitment he had to our Credit Union. He was extremely
instrumental in the growth of our credit union and we wish him all
the best in his retirement.

RECU Educates and Contributes to the New Market Segment, GEN Y.
For the first time in history, Retail Employee Credit Union offered
a financial education course entitled, "Checking and Your
Credit". This course was open to the children of members who
ranged between Juniors
in High School to
Seniors in college.
The course was
developed and taught
by Vice President, Taria
Williams. "I have always
believed that it is
extremely important to
financially empower our
youth with the tools that
will prevent them from
making mistakes with
their finances and credit
as they venture off into
financial independence."
As an incentive for
attending the free
seminar, a drawing was
held to award one of the
attendees with a
$1000 scholarship.
Congratulations to
Kimberly Settle, the
recipient of our first
scholarship grant.
Kimberly is a senior at
Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA where she majors in
accounting. Kimberly comments, "The Saturday class
"Checking Your Credit..." provided information on the
importance of maintaining good credit while in college.
Although I have heard that credit is important, I never
understood just how important it was until Taria Williams, our
facilitator, explained what your credit score can tell lenders
and future employers about how well you handle your
responsibilities."
